Hi! I’m Falen LeBlanc. I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and love to do anything outside: bike, hike, kayak, and garden. It may surprise you, but I homestead! I own a small farm with sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, dogs, and cats. I also grow a garden for food and to share at local markets.

I became interested in this type of work during an internship at a local Department of Human Services office. I transported young people in foster care for family visits and other appointments. I loved the conversations I had during car rides and while waiting together. I knew then that I wanted to work with those with lived experience. I feel pride and satisfaction in my work when those with lived experience find success by using their unique gifts. I have loved working alongside young people with lived experience in foster care to both create platforms to share expertise and to support confidence and growth as change makers. Through my work at FosterClub, I hope to become a consultant, colleague, and supporter for those with lived experience in any capacity that promotes a better foster care experience.

Falen graduated from Northwest Nazarene University with a Master’s in Social Work: Clinical and Management Track. Prior to working at FosterClub, she was the assistant director of youth services for the National Resource Center for Youth Services. She spent 15 years in Idaho’s child welfare program and served in many roles, including the state lead for Idaho’s Chafee Program. She also serves in a federal capacity as a consultant with the Capacity Building Center for States as a Chafee lead. Falen has been a social worker and advocate for those with lived experience for over 20 years.
