Trevor Rouse
They/Them
3 Years in Care
Trevor is a strong survivor who navigated instability across multiple placements. Their most meaningful accomplishment is achieving the stability that allows them to give back, offering support and guidance to others facing similar challenges. Trevor currently attends Borough of Manhattan Community College, excelling as a Science major, with plans to transfer to a four-year university and pursue medical school.
Passionate about service, Trevor works with Project Impact at Borough of Manhattan Community College, helping justice-involved students navigate financial aid, coursework, and transfer applications while providing academic and social support. They are also a New York State Department of Health Certified Crisis Counselor through the Anti-Violence Project, delivering culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care to LGBTQ and HIV-impacted survivors of violence.
Trevor’s dedication to advocacy stems from their own experiences of stigma and marginalization, motivating them to be a supportive, nonjudgmental presence for others. Beyond service and academics, they are an avid reader, favoring nonfiction but always open to exploring new genres.
Their future goal is to become a physician, reducing stigmatization in healthcare for marginalized communities, including transgender patients, foster youth, and individuals from low-income backgrounds. Trevor aims to bridge gaps in care, ensuring equitable and compassionate treatment for all
