She/Her
7 Years in care
Samira first entered foster care at 10 years old. She is now 17 with the plans to age out. She finds joy in working out, baking, hiking, and spending time with animals. She has been recognized by the Youth Power Project for her significant work in the legislative field. Samira was most impacted by a summer program called "Trial By Peers," in which she studied legal education to advocate for her peers in court that had misdemeanors. The end goal was to restore and not punish, in hopes that they can actually learn without being strictly penalized. One of the many things she learned from the program was that you should always have your voice and stand for what you believe. I became interested in advocacy when I realized I have the power to give a voice to the voiceless. Samira’s ultimate goal in life is to pursue a law degree, to validate justice.
Through her role with FosterClub, she hopes to not only expand her knowledge, but to be there for others who were once in the same boat as her. She believes that we are all equal and deserving of support and someone who will be a part of our journeys in life.
