She/Her
10 Years in Care
Ruth Okoronkwo is a college student, majoring in Health and Behavioral Sciences with minors in Health & Wellness and Business Management. Ruth entered foster care at a young age, experiencing multiple placements that shaped her resilience and determination. Despite the instability, she stayed focused on her goals, and now she’s paving the way for future leaders in healthcare and foster care.
Ruth is actively involved in student leadership, serving as the Political Director for a campus organization and working to establish a HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) chapter at her university. She’s passionate about creating spaces where students, especially from underserved backgrounds, can find support and leadership opportunities in healthcare.
A student journalist, Ruth uses storytelling to create change and raise awareness about mental health and trauma-informed wellness. Her long-term goal is to blend healthcare, leadership, and equity to create a lasting impact in both fields.
