Pamela Javier
She/Her
3 Years in Care
Pamela entered foster care at 15 and, like many, faced significant challenges transitioning into adulthood. Despite these obstacles, Pamela’s determination has propelled her forward. She graduated high school, secured her first job, and successfully transitioned into Extended Foster Care while pursuing higher education.
Pamela has dedicated herself to advocacy, serving as a youth representative for multiple Washington state initiatives, including the Group Care and Foster Care Negotiated Rule Making projects and the DCYF Oversight Board Committee. Through these roles, she amplifies the voices of youth in care, collaborates with policymakers, and drives meaningful change within the child welfare system. Pamela has also volunteered in her community, from organizing resources at Spokane’s Mission Outreach Center to supporting youth programs at local colleges.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Political Science at Washington State University, Pamela balances her studies with her role as an in-home caregiver and her responsibilities as a mother of three. Her long-term goal is to work for DCYF to improve the child welfare system and continue mentoring youth in care, while ensuring her children grow up inspired by her dedication, resilience, and commitment to making a positive impact.
