Year in Care 3.5
is a caring and compassionate member of the Oregon Youth Advisory Council (OYAC) who is driven by a deep desire to support others and create meaningful change. She spent about three and a half years in foster care, an experience that shaped her commitment to advocacy and youth voice.
Growing up, Maty helped care for horses and began riding later in life, discovering how powerful and healing those connections could be. Horses became trusted companions and played an important role in her personal growth. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends, making memories, and crafts.
Maty joined this work because she wants to help prevent other youth from experiencing the mistreatment she faced in care, especially young people managing multiple mental health challenges. She’s committed to speaking up for those who feel it’s safer to stay silent.Through her work with FosterClub, she hopes to turn painful experiences into purpose—standing up, speaking out, and sharing her story to reduce harm. Maty is dedicated to being a voice for those who feel it is safer to stay quiet and to help transform hardship into hope.
