Kirk Spicer

He/Him

18 Years in Care

Kirk navigated the Indiana DCS system, facing hardships and challenges. After multiple foster placements and a challenging encounter with the justice system, Kirk realized he deserved better and committed to finding his voice and reclaiming his life. Kirk’s uncle became his legal guardian and adoptive father, providing stability, love, and guidance. With this support, Kirk embraced education, mentorship, and community involvement, forging a path defined by resilience and purpose.

Kirk has been actively engaged in youth advocacy, serving as a Youth Impact Board Member with Kids’ Voice of Indiana, participating in the Kids’ Voice Gala, volunteering with Christian Empowerment Ministries, and supporting initiatives like the Indiana Black Expo. These experiences reflect his commitment to empowering others and elevating youth voice.

Looking ahead, Kirk is exploring careers in public service, the U.S. Army Infantry, and local law enforcement, while continuing to hone his public speaking and leadership skills. His journey demonstrates extraordinary perseverance, self-advocacy, and a dedication to transforming personal hardship into meaningful community impact.
