Justin Kasieta
He/Him
3 Years in Care
Justin Kasieta entered foster care in Michigan as a young teen and, over the years, navigated multiple placements while learning how to adapt, advocate for himself, and access the support he needed. These experiences gave him a firsthand understanding of the challenges youth in care face and inspired his commitment to turning obstacles into opportunities—not just for himself, but for others.
Justin has worked with organizations like the Children’s Advocacy Institute, advocating for policies that protect foster youth benefits, including Michigan Senate Bill 18. He mentors youth aging out of care, helping them build financial literacy, navigate resources, and plan for college.
After graduating from the University of Michigan, Justin moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he works in finance while exploring ways to use technology and financial tools to improve foster care systems. Whether testifying before lawmakers, mentoring peers, or analyzing markets, Justin is dedicated to empowering youth, reshaping systems, and proving that foster care experiences can become a source of strength and insight.
