Charisma Farrington
She/Her
11 Years in Care
Charisma spent 11 years navigating foster care across three states and faced many challenges along the way. Through all the transitions and hardships, Charisma found strength in her experiences and made it her mission to amplify the voices of other youth in care.
Now a student at the University of Connecticut, Charisma is majoring in Pre-Law Psychology and Political Science. Her academic path shows her commitment to creating systemic change and advocating for better support systems for foster youth. Charisma is passionate about child welfare and plans to attend law school to specialize in child advocacy and family law.
Beyond academics, Charisma is deeply involved in leadership and advocacy work. She has served on the Youth Advisory Board for the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, advocating for foster youth and helping shape policies. Charisma is also a member of the marching band at UConn, where she held several leadership roles and learned the power of mentorship and teamwork.
Charisma’s commitment to serving others extends to her volunteer work with various organizations, including For the Children, Foster Families Today Magazine, and Joy Closet, where she helps create resources for foster families and youth.
