Britney Deza
She/Her
5 Years in Care
Britney entered foster care at 16 following the loss of her mother.. Over the past five years, she has navigated multiple placements, including being fostered by family and later finding support through chosen family. Despite these hardships, Britney has demonstrated resilience, earning a 3.5 GPA in high school and graduating from Union County College with an associate degree in Business. She is now completing her bachelor’s in Accounting at Kean University, set to graduate in December 2025.
Britney’s advocacy began through her work with the NJ DCF Youth Council, where she collaborates with youth peers, staff, and leadership to improve access to case information, create youth-friendly court environments, and train staff on sibling rights. She has also volunteered as an ambassador for One Simple Wish, empowering youth in care, and participated in the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative Youth Leadership Institute to represent New Jersey.
Passionate about mentorship, leadership, and community impact, Britney uses her lived experience to uplift others. Beyond advocacy, she enjoys painting—recently selling her first piece at a fundraising gallery—and training her two bunnies to perform tricks. Her future goals include expanding her advocacy, launching a nonprofit, and creating educational programs for youth in need.
