Alexia Roberts is a dedicated mother of three and a passionate advocate for foster youth. With her personal experience in foster care, Alexia has spent years using her voice to drive change and advocate for those who have been overlooked. As part of the Empowering Foster Youth Through Technology program with the ParkWest Foundation, Alexia works to bridge the gap between foster youth and digital access, education, and opportunity. She also serves on the Team with Lived Expertise through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), using her lived experience to help inform policy and decision-making.
In addition to her work with MDHHS, Alexia has collaborated with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) to improve educational opportunities for foster youth. Alexia’s dedication to advocating for youth has earned her recognition, including the Michele Corey Rising Star Award. She has spoken on various panels, including those with lawmakers and community leaders, to elevate the voices of youth in care.
Alexia’s commitment to creating a better future for others is driven by her belief in the power of education. She is currently working toward a degree at Wayne State University, with plans to use her education to continue advocating for foster youth and lead efforts to empower and support them.
