Youth Development Program - Leaving Foster Care

About this resource

Need Help Getting Ready for Life on Your Own? We’ve Got You Covered!

The Youth Development Program (YDP) helps young people who are leaving foster care or State custody get ready for independent living. They’re here to support you in building the life you want!

YDP is all about your goals—you decide what you want, and we help you figure out the steps to get there. They’ll also help you find the right people and resources to support you along the way.

Here’s what they offer:

  • Life skills check-ups – to see what you already know and what you can learn

  • Coaching and training – to build skills like cooking, budgeting, job hunting, and more

  • Help connecting with other services, like:

    • Mental health or substance use counseling

    • Health insurance and doctor visits

    • School support (like help finishing high school, GED prep, or getting ready for college)

    • Job training and career planning

  • Help finding safe and stable housing

  • Support in connecting with family and people who care about you
