Wisconsin Department of Children & Families

About this resource

If you're in foster care or used to be, there are lots of reasons you might need to reach out to Wisconsin's Department of Children & Families.  Here are some examples:

  • Have a concern or complaint? You can speak up if something doesn’t feel right about your placement, caseworker, or services.

  • Questions about your case? Ask about your benefits, Chafee funds, the Independent Living Program (ILP), or other support.

  • Think your rights were violated? You can file a grievance if you feel your rights as a foster youth weren’t respected.

  • Need your records? You can ask for copies of your case file or other documents.

  • Looking for help? DHHS can tell you about programs for housing, school, jobs, or mental health as you prepare for life after foster care.

  • Want to speak up? There are ways to get involved and help make the foster care system better for everyone.
