West Virginia: Educational Training Vouchers

About this resource

If you were in foster care in West Virginia and aged out at 18—or were adopted or placed in guardianship at 16 or older—you may qualify for up to $5,000 a year to help pay for college or job training through the ETV (Education and Training Voucher) Program.

ETV can help cover:

  • Tuition and school fees
  • Books, supplies, and a computer
  • Housing or dorm costs
  • Transportation and other school-related needs

You can apply until you turn 23 and keep getting help until age 26, as long as you stay enrolled and meet the requirements (like keeping a 2.0 GPA and staying in contact with your worker).

To get started, talk to your MODIFY worker or check out the ETV fact sheet.
