Wayne County Community College District Scholars Motivated to Advocate & Realize their Talents (SMART)

About this resource

The SMART Program is here to support and uplift students who have experienced foster care. It’s all about helping you succeed in college, grow as a person, and build a strong future. Through Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD), SMART gives you 24/7 support from a Campus Coach and help from Campus Champions who guide you through college life and connect you to the resources you need.

As a SMART student, you can get:

  • Scholarships up to $6,000 per year

  • Peer and professional mentoring

  • Crisis counseling and emotional support

  • Help with basic living needs and emergencies

  • Career planning and life skills training

  • Academic support and financial literacy workshops

SMART gives you the tools and support to discover your strengths and achieve amazing things—both in college and in life.
