About this resource
The Fostering Success program at UW Stout provides services specifically designed to aid former foster youth in transitioning to and through college.
This program provides intentional support and community, as well as information about resources and available grants and scholarships. Fostering Success also helps connect its students to numerous leadership and involvement opportunities available on and off campus, other students, organizations, or other opportunities so that our students can make the most of their college experience.
Services and other opportunities our program provide include:
- Peer Mentoring
- Welcome Baskets for New Students with College Essentials
- Emergency Fund Assistance and Scholarships
- Fostering Success Family Dinners Twice a Month
- Assistance in Applying for State of Wisconsin Benefits Programs

Who can use this resource (eligibility)?
Students eligible for Fostering Success have experienced one of the following:
- Foster home
- Residential care center
- Group home
- Court-ordered placement with a relative
- Adoption
- Orphan/ward of the court
- Homelessness
- Guardianship
- Other out-of-home care, not specified above
