Texas: Rights of Children and Youth in Foster Care

About this resource

DFPS provides Child Protective Services (CPS) Rights to all children in CPS foster care.

These rights are reviewed with a child or youth and the caregiver when the Child’s Plan of Service is developed or reviewed, and no later than 72 hours from the date when:

• The child comes into foster care
• A placement change is made into a DFPS FAD foster home
