Georgia-Support Services

About this resource

If you’re in foster care in Georgia, a Comprehensive Child and Family Assessment (CCFA) may be completed. This is a report used to gather information about your needs, your family’s situation, and what kind of placement or services might be recommended. The CCFA is often shared with your caseworker and the court.

As part of the CCFA process, you or your family might be connected to Wrap-Around Services, which are supports designed to help with things like parenting, crisis situations, or financial stress. These services are usually assigned based on your case type and needs.

Types of Wrap-Around Services:

  • Parent Aide: Provides parenting help through home visits or classes. This is for families with open Family Preservation, Permanency, or Adoption cases. It is not therapy.
  • Early Intervention: Short-term support for families showing early signs of stress but who are not involved with CPS. Includes parenting support through group classes or home visits.
  • Homestead: Offers counseling and crisis help to stabilize families. Available to families with open child welfare cases.
  • PUP (Prevention of Unnecessary Placement): May help with emergency needs like rent, utilities, or child care. PUP can also provide access to services for health or mental health needs. This program is used when families have open DFCS cases.

These services are coordinated by DFCS and are based on your case plan and what your caseworker or team decides is needed.
