Ohio: Foster Youth Complaints Office (Ombudsman)
About this resource
What Does a Foster Care Ombudsman Do?
A Foster Care Ombudsman is someone who listens to problems and helps solve them for kids and teens in foster care.
-
If a youth is being treated unfairly or feels unsafe in their foster home, group home, or any place they’re living, they can talk to the Ombudsman.
-
The Ombudsman’s job is to look into the complaint in a fair and independent way—not working for the foster care agency.
-
They help make sure the youth’s voice is heard and that the problem gets the right attention.
-
If needed, they can connect the youth with other people or groups who can help.
