North Carolina Independent Living Program

About this resource

Independent Living Services in North Carolina help youth and young adults who have been in foster care get ready for adulthood. These services—often provided through the NC LINKS program—support things like education, housing, employment, budgeting, life skills, and building a strong support network.

If you’re between the ages of 13 and 21 and are or were in foster care, you may be eligible. Support is available whether you're still in care, participating in Foster Care 18 to 21, or have aged out.

To access services, contact your local Department of Social Services (DSS) and ask to speak with the LINKS Coordinator or foster care supervisor.
