Michigan: Youth in Transition Funding (Chafee)
About this resource
Youth in Transition (YIT) is Michigan’s name for the federal Chafee funding program. It provides money to help young people who were in foster care after age 14 and are now under 23. This funding can be used for things that support your independence—like education, housing, job training, and more—as long as those expenses aren’t already covered by other programs or resources.
Who can use this resource (eligibility)?
- Michigan youth who are active in the foster care system, placed out of their home based on abuse and neglect, starting at age 14 and up to age 23.
