Michigan: ETV (Education & Training Voucher)

About this resource

The Education and Training Voucher (ETV) is a yearly grant that helps young people who have aged out of foster care pay for college, university, or job training programs. You can get up to $5,000 a year based on your school costs.

To qualify, you must sign up before turning 21, and you can keep getting support until you’re 26 years old, as long as you still meet the requirements—for up to five years total.

You can use ETV funds for things like:

  • Tuition and school fees

  • Dorm and housing costs

  • Books and supplies

  • Student loan payments

  • Certain living expenses

In Michigan, this program is run by Samaritas.
