Maryland: MYLIFE State Youth Advisory Board

About this resource

The State Youth Advisory Board (SYAB) gives young people in foster care a voice in decisions that affect them. Members work with the Social Services Administration and other leaders to share their ideas and help improve the foster care system. The board meets once a month in Baltimore, Maryland.

As a member, you can help plan the annual Teen Conference, take part in leadership and public speaking trainings, and share your thoughts on laws and policies that impact youth in care.

Who can use this resource (eligibility)?

  • Must be 13 – 23 years old
  • Must be current or alumni of the Maryland’s Child Welfare System
  • Must have some experience on their local youth advisory board
