Need Help Paying for College or Job Training?
If you're in or have been in foster care, you might be able to get money to help pay for college or job training through the Chafee Education and Training Voucher (ETV).
In Maine, these funds come from the Independent Living Program (ILP) and can help cover things like books, class fees, or getting to and from school.
Before you apply, you need to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This helps figure out how much financial aid you can get.
Deadlines for this program can change each year, so it's a good idea to check in with the Youth Transition Program Manager at Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services to get the most up-to-date info.
