Louisiana Elite Advocacy Force (LEAF)

About this resource

LEAF, short for Louisiana Elite Advocacy Force, is the official Louisiana State Youth Advisory Board. Established in 2019 as a reimagined version of the Louisiana Youth Leadership Advisory Council (LYLAC), LEAF empowers current and former foster youth to:

  • Advocate for policy and legislative changes to improve the foster care system.

  • Educate the public and stakeholders about the experiences and needs of foster youth.

  • Support each other through mentorship and peer connections.

LEAF's mission is to unite voices and change policies, laws, and perceptions to empower youth to become leaders and reach their full potential.

Who can use this resource (eligibility)?

  • Are 16 to 21 years old.

  • Were in foster care in Louisiana at age 16 or 17.

By joining, you'll have opportunities to participate in focus groups, stakeholder committees, policy-making panels, and present at local, state, and national events.
