Louisiana State University Better Futures Program
About this resource
Better Futures is a free program for Louisiana youth with foster care experience who want support as they finish high school and explore college or job training options. The program focuses on building self-determination skills like goal-setting, problem-solving, and finding support during big life transitions.
What’s included:
- One-on-one coaching during the school year
- Workshops with peers and adults who’ve been through similar experiences
- A chance to stay on LSU’s Baton Rouge campus and explore college and career paths
Who can use this resource (eligibility)?
- Ages 16–21
- Currently or formerly in foster care
- High school junior/senior or working on GED
- Live in East Baton Rouge Parish or nearby
- Interested in college, vocational training, or job programs
The program is free to attend thanks to grant funding.
