Kansas Youth Advisory Council (KYAC)

About this resource

The KYAC mission is to unite and empower young people directly impacted by the child welfare system and enable them to advocate for themselves and others while developing life and leadership skills. 

KYAC Members:

  • Participate in local Regional Youth Advisory Council’s (RYAC)
  • Host an annual youth conference
  • Provide recommendations and changes to the child welfare system
  • Advocate for policy change in the Kansas Legislature

Who can use this resource (eligibility)?

To be eligible to join KYAC, a youth/young adult has to have been or currently in foster care for any period of time on or after their 14th birthday. Eligibility ends upon the young adult’s 26th birthday.
