The Chafee ETV Program offers financial assistance to eligible youth and young adults transitioning from foster care. It helps cover costs such as tuition, housing, books, and other education-related expenses.

Who can use this resource (eligibility)?

Eligibility Criteria:

• Aged 16 to 26

• Have a high school diploma or equivalent

• Were in foster care or achieved permanency (through reunification, adoption, or guardianship) on or after your 16th birthday

• Enrolled in an eligible post-secondary program

Application Requirements:

• Complete the FAFSA to determine your eligibility for federal aid

• Submit the ETV application along with:

  • Verification of foster care status

  • Copy of high school diploma or GED

  • Independent Living Plan developed with your caseworker
