The Unconquered Scholars Program at Florida State University provides specialized support to students who have experienced foster care, homelessness, relative care, or ward of the state status. Recognizing the unique challenges these students may face, the program aims to promote academic success, personal development, and long-term independence.

Services available to Unconquered Scholars include:

  • One-on-one academic and life advising
  • Summer Bridge transition support
  • College life coaching
  • Tutoring and skills workshops
  • Financial aid assistance and advocacy
  • Access to mental health counseling
  • Use of dedicated computer labs and study spaces
  • Opportunities for campus involvement and volunteering

The program works in partnership with university departments to help students persist through college and achieve their educational and professional goals.

Who can use this resource (eligibility)?

  • Must have been in formal or informal relative care, foster care, ward of the state, or classified as an homeless/unaccompanied youth while in middle or high school
  • Must have a completed FAFSA on file with the Office of Financial Aid
  • Must be willing to participate in group and individual programming throughout your tenure at Florida State University
