Dawson Promise
About this resource
Dawson Community College (DCC) offers a special program called Dawson Promise to support students as they begin their college journey. It's not just about going to school — it’s about building a future together.
Here’s what you’ll get:
-
Year-round on-campus housing – You’ll have a place to live all year.
-
Personal mentoring and advising – You’ll have someone to guide you through college and help you succeed.
-
Help with financial aid & scholarships – DCC’s team will help you fill out your FAFSA and apply for money to pay for school.
-
Job experience – You’ll work 10–15 hours a week on campus and be part of a monthly payment plan based on what you can afford.
-
Life skills training – You’ll learn things like how to write a resume, budget money, take care of your mental health, and even how to grocery shop smart.
-
Adopt-a-Buc host family – You’ll be matched with a local family to help you feel more at home in the community.
-
Start right after high school – You can move in and begin classes as soon as you graduate.
You’ll also work with an academic advisor to choose the right classes for your career goals — and meet regularly to check in on your progress.
