Improving Outcomes for Young Adults and the Systems that Serve Them: A Playbook of Best Practices was created by young people with lived experience in foster care. Now is your chance to learn how to use it in your advocacy. Whether you are currently involved in advocacy work, or you’re a young person with lived experience looking to take your first steps, this is for you

“Too often foster youth are silenced and overlooked or expected to survive without being heard. I refuse to let the system that tried to break me continue unchanged.”

— Myracle Maijia, She/Her, Spent 12 years in Michigan’s foster care system

Join us for a practical workshop where you'll hear from and connect with other leaders with lived experience, build your own advocacy pitches, and walk away with tools you can use immediately.

When is it?

This workshop is being held twice:

Who's invited?

These workshops are for young people with lived experience in foster care who are interested in or involved with advocacy.

Why does this matter?

You already know what needs to change. Sometimes you just need the right words to make your case. The TAY Playbook gives you those words—and these workshops teach you how to use them.

However advocacy looks to you, we want to support you in the journey. See you there!

“Really, advocacy means something different to everyone, and it’s a choice. Some are all about [advocacy], some aren’t, and either way it’s okay.”

— Brina Williams, they/them, spent 2.5 years in Michigan’s foster care system
